James WherleyJames C. Wherley, 81, of Bloomington died at 6:05 a.m. Feb. 15, 2009, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.

He was born July 3, 1927, in Macomb, a son of Pius Edward and Laura Lauderback Wherley. He married Polly Ann McCormick on October 28, 1948, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Linda (and Gary) Sutton of Avery, Texas, Carolan (and Doug) Wilson and Debra (and Rich) Sullens, both of Bloomington, Pamela (and Martin) Fogler of Hudson and Patti (and Kevin) Lloyd of Normal; three sisters; one brother; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister; and three brothers.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 13 years and was a truck driver for many years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of VFW Post 454 of Bloomington and was former governor of the Moose Lodge.

James Wherley (older pic)Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home Ltd. in Bloomington. Funeral services will be private.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
