Esther WrightEsther V. Wright, 79, of Ipava died at 4:08 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at her home.

She was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Farmers Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Ralph and Vada Strode Brown. She married Merrill G. Wright on Sept. 8, 1946, in Canton. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Roger D. (and Connie) of Delevan, Leon M. (and Deborah) of Ipava and Dennis G. (and Sally) of Peoria; one daughter, Connie Sue (and Jerry) Nelson of Canton; three sisters, Melba Stone of Fairview, Beulah (and C.P.) Patterson of Monmouth and Thelma Lane of Moline; one brother, Gerald Brown of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Onita Long; and two brothers, Victor and Kenneth Brown.

She served as a nursing cadet during World War II.

She was a member of United Presbyterian Church of Ipava, where she served as elder and deacon, choir director, hand bell choir director and organist for many years. She also was a member of HEA for over 50 years, and sang with the Fulton County Civic Singers.

She was a homemaker and worked at the Ipava State Bank in Ipava for 23 years.

Services were held Saturday at her church with Rev. Kevin Kessler and Rev. Danie DeBeer officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.
