ONITA K. (BROWN) LONG

Onita Long

Onita LongOnita K. Long, 93, of Ipava died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born March 7, 1913, in Farmers Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Ralph and Vada Strode Brown. She married Bruce E. Long on Aug. 19, 1933, in Macomb. He died Sept. 18, 2000.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor Brown and Kenneth Brown.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Jones of Lewistown; four sisters, Esther (and Merrill) Wright of Ipava, Melba Stone of Fairview, Beulah (and C.P.) Patterson of Monmouth and Thelma Lane of Moline; one brother, Gerald Brown of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Ipava Christian Church where she was past president of the CWF and an elder. She was also a member of the Fulton County Home Extension.

She was a homemaker and also worked for Blair's Grocery in Ipava for five years.

Services were held Tuesday at her church with Rev. Ray Greenfield officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.
