BRUCE E. LONG

Bruce Long

Bruce E. Long, 92, of Ipava died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at 6:20 p.m. at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Sept. 13, 1908, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, the son of Harvey E. and Sadie M. Wickert Long. He married Onita Brown in Macomb on Aug. 19, 1933. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kathy Jones of Lewistown; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Velma Liggett.

He owned and operated Long Truck Line, hauling stock to Chicago in the early 1940s. He worked for 25 years as an auto mechanic at the Texico Station in Ipava. He was a school bus driver for the VIT school district for over 30 years. He also worked at Ulmer Ford in Ipava until his retirement in 1973.

He was a member of Ipava Christian Church for 75 years. He was a charter member of the Ipava Volunteer Fire Dept.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at his church with Rev. Kevin Kessler officiating. Visitation will be tonight, Sept. 20, from 6-8 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Ipava Christian Church or the Ipava Rescue Squad.
