Shirley Werner

Shirley WernerShirley J. Werner, 85, of Astoria died at her home at 10:26 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005.

She was born Nov. 27, 1920, in Table Grove, a daughter of Roman and Lulu May Emig Little. She married Maurice Werner on Feb. 14, 1941, in Astoria. He died Jan. 6, 1993.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Kay Werner; one brother, James Little; and one sister, Mary Ellen Wickert.

Surviving are two sons, Richard of Houston, Texas, and John (and Marilyn) of Nashville, Ind.; one sister, Nancy Heitz of Vermont; one brother, Phillip (and Joan) Little of Marion; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She and her husband farmed near Astoria.

She was a member of Woodland Church of the Brethren, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Pastor Vernon Dean will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodland Church of the Brethren, 3485 N. County Highway 2, Astoria, IL 61501.
