Roy D. "Buddy" Walters, 70, of Canton died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Graham Hospital.

He was born March 13, 1934, in Fulton County, the son of Floyd and Carrie Johnson Walters. He married Martha Weaver on May 31, 1959, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Curtis (and Betty) and Steve, both of Canton; two sisters, Betty Shawgo of Burlington, Iowa, and Dorla (and Gene) Danner of Springfield; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.

He was a Korean War Army veteran and attained the rank of staff sergeant. He was a member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1984. He was a member of American Legion Post 16 and the Berlin U.S. Military Veterans Association.

He worked at Sears Roebuck and later worked at the Fulton County Health Department as a weatherization coordinator, until retiring in June 2000.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton.

Services were held Oct. 15 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Jones officiating. Cremation was accorded.
