Evelyn I. Wertz, 72, of Canton died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born Jan. 13, 1932, in Bartonville, a daughter of Lewie F. and Esther N. Williamson Hodgkins. She married Wilfred A. Wertz on March 14, 1950, in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Lewie (and Debbie) and William, both of Pekin; two daughters, Donita (and Robert) Ritchey of Merriam Woods, Mo., and Denise (and Tim) Lathrop of Bushnell; one brother, Steve (and Irene) Hodgkins of Smithfield; eight sisters, Pat (and Glen) Housh of Washington, Sharon (and Harry) Ford of Marietta, Sandy (and Walter) Richie of New Philadelphia, Sue (and Roy) Stafford of Ipava, Judy (and Don) Button of Dacona, Colo., Janice (and Allen) Swise of Canton, Cheryl (and Pete) Medina of Galesburg and Nancy (and Mike) Trone of Smithfield; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-granchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
She was a member of Smithfield Church of the Nazarene in Smithfield.
Services were held Thursday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Layton Malone officiating. Burial was in Marietta Cemetery.
