She was born Sept. 2, 1939, in Peoria, a daughter of Lewie and Esther Williamson Hodgkins. She married Walter L. “Bud” Richey on July 30, 1955, in Macomb. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2011.
She also was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Wertz; two brothers, Noel and Stephen Hodgkins; and one grandson, Otto Gossage III.
Surviving are three daughters, Sheila L. Paul of Smithfield, and Patti Jo (and Otto) Gossage and Jodi Lea (and Bill) Berger, both of Marietta; seven sisters, Nancy (and Mike) Trone of Smithfield, Cheryl Medina of Galesburg, Janice Swise and Sue (and Roy) Stafford, both of Ipava, Judy Buttons of Dacona, Colo., Sharon (and Harry) Ford of Marietta and Patrica Housh of Washington, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Through the years she served on the Marietta Fish Fry Committee and was a member of the Spoon River CBers. For 40 plus years she served as treasurer for the Village of Marietta and assistant junior director for the Smithfield Modern Woodman of America chapter. She also worked as a CNA at the Elms Nursing Home and provided comfort and care to many family members and close friends in their final days.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Pastor Jim Eddie officiating. Burial was held at the Marietta Cemetery.
