ESTHER N. (WILLIAMSON) HODGKINS

Esther Hodgkins

Esther N. Hodgkins, 87, of Ipava died at 2:47 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Graham Hospital emergency room in Canton.

She was born Dec. 25, 1915, in LeRoy, a daughter of Nolan and Susan Uhrich Williamson. She married Lewie Hodgkins on Sept. 12, 1931, in Peoria. He died May 11, 1986.

She also was preceded in death by one son, two brothers, one sister, one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.

Surviving are one son, Stephen (and Irene) of Smithfield; nine daughters, Nancy (and Michael) Trone of Smithfield, Judith (and Donald) Button of Dacono, Colo., Sue (and Royal) Stafford of Ipava, Cheryl (and Peter) Medina of Galesburg, Patricia (and Glen) Housh of Washington, Sharon (and Harry) Ford of Marietta, Sandra (and Walter) Richey of New Philadelphia, and Janice (and Allen) Swise and Evelyn (and Wilfred) Wertz, both of Canton; 44 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Millard Williamson of LeRoy and Ivan Williamson of Terre Haute, Ind.

She worked at Blue Bell Corp. in Bushnell for six years and at Canton Manufacturing Co. in Canton for 14 1/2 years, retiring Dec. 23, 1980. She was a former member of ACTV Local 485.

She was a member of Smithfield Church of the Nazarene.

Services were held Saturday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Layton Malone officiating. Burial was in Marietta Cemetery in Marietta.
