Robert L. White, 76, of Marietta died at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at the Graham Hospital emergency room in Canton.

She was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Farmington, a son of Delbert and Clara Azbell White. He married Florence Lawson on Jan. 5, 1963, in Cuba. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Joseph Fisher of Bethalto, Robert White Jr. of Baltimore and Chuck Fisher of Marietta; six daughters, Rose Fisher Alexander of Macomb, Barbara Bo Graves of Bushnell, Connie Loveland, Cheryl Sasser and Sandy Dunn, all of Baltimore, and Cindy Besco of Cary, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond of Canton; and three sisters, Lois Smith of Cuba and Novella Niecikowski and Betty Shannon, both of Marietta.

He was preceded in death by one son, James Fisher; one daughter, Andrea Fisher; five brothers; and two sisters.

A member of the Ipava American Legion Post, he was an Army veteran, serving from 1943-1946.

A member of the United Auto Workers, he worked for 22 years at International Harvester in Canton, retiring in 1985.

He served as mayor and Democratic precinct committeeman for Marietta.

Services were held Tuesday at Marietta Community Church with Rev. Rose Brown officiating. Burial was in Marietta Cemetery, with military honors accorded by his American Legion Post. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba was in charge of arrangements.
