Michael Westcott Of Astoria Dies

Michael Allen Westcott, 30, of Astoria, died at 3:22 a.m. Sunday, June 3, 1990, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield after being in a one-car accident.

Westcott was thrown from the car when the driver failed to negotiate a curve on westbound U.S. Route 24 near Rushville at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

He was born March 9, 1960, in Ottawa, a son of Lyle and Helen Smith Westcott. He married Darlene Sowers on Sept. 19, 1979.

Surviving are his mother of Astoria; two sons, Michael Jason Westcott and Brad Lee Westcott, both of Astoria; one brother, Harvey of Rushville; one sister, Joyce Read of Cambridge; and one grandmother, Ada Hopping of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by his father, two grandfathers and one grandmother.

He had been employed as a truck driver by Clanin Trucking of Astoria.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial will be in the Astoria Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Shawgo’s.
