Parke Weese Of Astoria Dies

Parke D. Weese, 95, of Astoria, died at 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 1988, at the Astoria Healthcare Center where he had been a resident the past several months.

He was born Feb. 4, 1893, in Summum, a son of Oliver and Mettie Langston Weese. He was married to Ruth Kingery on Oct. 6, 1916, in Havana. She survives.

Also surviving is one brother, Mark Weese, of Colorado Springs, Colo.

One brother preceded him in death.

Mr. Weese was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church. He had served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School class teacher, and Chorister of the Evangelical United Brethren before the merger with the Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer. He held the office of Astoria Township assessor for 12 years.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Guy Freesen officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
