Mrs. Merietta (Mettie) Weese, a former Astoria resident, died at her home in Colorado Springs, Sunday, following an illness of several years. She was aged 72 years, 11 months and 3 days.
The body arrived in Galesburg this morning. Cline Horton, local mortician, met the body and brought it to Astoria for burial.
Mrs. Weese was born Nov. 17, 1867 in Summum, a daughter of John and Martha (Shields) Langston, and was married to O. P. Weese who died Nov. 17, 1926 at Astoria. Surviving are three sons, Forrest, Zanesville, Ohio; Park of Astoria, and Mark of Colorado Springs.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the United Brethren church, conducted by Rev. C. P. Ellis. Interment in Astoria Memorial Mausoleum.
