George J. Wise, 74, of Astoria, died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 1981, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
Mr. Wise was born Feb. 24, 1907, in Beardstown, the son of Samuel D. and Alvia D. Starnes Wise. He married Flossie F. Ogden on Feb. 15, 1929. She died June 12, 1971.
Surviving are two sons, George H. of Romeoville, and Gilbert of Astoria; one daughter, Iona Wise of Astoria; five grandchildren; and one brother, John of Rushville.
He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers, and five sisters.
He was a retired Astoria Township Commissioner retiring in 1975 after 20 years of service.
Funeral services were to be held at 11 a.m. this morning (Wednesday) at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Ray Artrip and Rev. Bruce Weiman officiating. Burial was to be in Woodland Cemetery.
