D. J. Thome

D. J. ThomeD. J. Thome, 41, of Ipava died at 9:38 p.m. Feb. 6, 2020, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born March 5, 1978, in Canton, a son of David Thome and Jo Cook. He married Tracy Egleton on July 29, 2006, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Brycen Dean, Payton Thome and Talen Thome, all of Ipava; his mother, Jo Thome of Ipava; his father, David (and Donna) Thome of Bluffton, S.C.; two sisters, Melissa Lannery and Bobbi Watkins, both of Ipava; one half-brother, Todd Thome of Pekin; and one half-sister, Tracy Phillips of Grove City, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bev and Don Fawcett, Nolan Daily and Mildred Daily.

He was an auto salesman for Davis Buick GMC Canton, Hossler Auto Plaza, O’Brian Auto Group and Gentry’s in Macomb. He was a member of Laborer’s Union #231 in Pekin. He last worked for Verizon in Havana.

He was a volunteer fireman and EMT for the Ipava Fire and Rescue Squad. He coached his kids’ biddy ball, football and baseball teams.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Doug Krukewitt officiating. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his sons’ education fund or the Ipava Fire and Rescue Squad.
