Herschel TroneHerschel R. Trone, 95, of Rushville died at 1:10 p.m. April 29, 2019, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

He was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Ray, a son of Bearl and Myrtle Mae Sowers Trone. He married Anna Schieferdecker on Aug. 5, 1943. She passed away in December of 1949. He then married Sara Ward. Later, he married Eva Palmer Gorsuch on March 4, 1969, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Larry Trone and Roger Trone, both of Rushville, Donald Trone of Missouri and Randal (and Donna) Trone of Columbia, Ill.; one daughter, Barbara Smith of Princeton; two stepsons, Eldon Gorsuch of Littleton and Virgil Gorsuch of Rushville; three stepdaughters, Roberta Stiles of Rushville, Kathy Huston of Winfield, Iowa, and Nancy Winkler of Montrose, Iowa; one sister, Margaret Terry of Littleton; one brother, Allen Trone of Moline; and numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Trone; two daughters, Rebecca Trone and Jane Trone; one brother, Harold Trone; and one sister, Mildred Danner.

He attended West Center School in Schuyler County. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in the South Pacific Theater as a B-29 mechanic.

He was a member of the VFW Post #1239 in Beardstown and the Rushville American Legion Post #4. He worked for N.T.N. Bower-Ball Bearing Plant in Macomb for many years before retiring.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and a U.S. Air Force Honors Detail. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Friday.
