ALAN J. TRONE

Alan J. Trone, 61, of Lewistown died at 10:05 a.m. Jan. 5, 2009, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born March 12, 1947, in Macomb, the son of Donald O. and Ruby Hillyer Trone. He married Nancy Wilson. She preceded him in death.

He also was preceded in death by his father; and one sister, Terrie Lea Trone.

Surviving are his mother of Macomb; and two sisters, Jane (and John) Dickerson of Naples, Fla., and Alice (and Tom) Proffer of Bradenton, Fla.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in 1965.

He was owner/operator of Spoon River Landscaping in Lewistown. He taught photography at Western Illinois University in Macomb and was owner/operator of Trone Photography.

In earlier years, he managed the Pekin theater for many years; was counselor at JOCOA Drug Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville and Lincoln; and a millwright at Powerton Nuclear Plant in Pekin.

He was a member of Lewistown American Legion and was an honorary member of National Ex-POW organization.

He was a 1965 graduate of Macomb High School.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Ridgeville Cemetery in Browning with Gary Sheets officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
