David E. Thomson Sr., 67, of Marietta died at 4:19 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Oct. 31, 1933, in St. Onge, S.D., a son of Paul and Mignon Elie Thomson. He married Mildred Wood in South Carolina. She died May 29, 2000.

He also was preceded in death by one son, one brother, one granddaughter and two grandsons.

Surviving are two sons, David Jr. (and Vickie) of Florida and Charles (and Debora) of South Carolina; two daughters, Carol (and Thomas) Peterson of South Carolina and Mickie Hudgins of Marietta; three brothers, Donald of Chicago, Leroy of Nebraska and Robert of Cuba; one sister, Darlene Bennett of LaHarpe; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

He retired from the Air Force.

He farmed in the Marietta area for many years.

He was a member of Russell Smith American Legion Post 533 in Cuba.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. today at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Dean Austin officiating. Burial was in the Temple Cemetery in rural Table Grove, where military rites were accorded.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross to be used for the New York City and Washington, D.C., disaster relief efforts.
