VeteranKenneth D. Trotter Dies At Age 84

Kenneth D. Trotter, 84, of Adair died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Apr. 22, 1980, in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb, after an illness of six months.

Born March 3, 1896, in Summum, a son of Simeon and Rosetta Onion Trotter, he moved to Eldorado Township in 1905, where he farmed until 1978 when he moved to Adair.

He served on the board of directors of Table Grove Home Savings & Loan Association 46 years. He was a member of McDonough County Farm Bureau, West Prairie Presbyterian Church, and was a 56-year member of Vermont Lodge 116, AF&AM.

He served with the American Expeditionary Forces in France during World War I, was a member of World War I Barracks 2557 and a 61-years member of Vermont American Legion.

He married Virginia McCarthy at Keokuk, Iowa, Aug. 9, 1937, and she survives, along with one son, James K. of Adair; two grandchildren; three brothers, Dwight Trotter of Adair, Dr. Jay Trotter of Carthage and Harold Trotter of rural Macomb; two sisters, Mrs. Homer (Clela) Wilson of Table Grove and Mrs. Opal Galloway of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Clugston Funeral Home, Macomb, with Rev. Ray Watson officiating. Burial was in Pennington Point Cemetery with military rites by Vermont American Legion.
