Opal T. Galloway Dies In Quincy

Opal T. Galloway, daughter of Simeon and Rosetta Onion Trotter, was born Sept. 28, 1910 in Eldorado Township near Adair, and died at her home in Quincy on June 17, 1980. On May 25, 1935 she married Richard A. Galloway in Pittsfield. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1978.

Opal was a graduate of Industry High School, WIU Teachers College in Home Economics and attended the University of Wyoming. Her first teaching was in Pleasant Hill where she met Richard. She also taught in Camp Point, Quincy Franklin School, and Quincy Junior High School prior to retirement in 1972.

Surviving are one son, Larry M. Galloway of Pleasant Ridge, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Lynn) Cameron of Quincy; three brothers, Dwight Trotter of Adair, Dr. Jay Trotter of Carthage, and Harold Trotter of Pennington Point; one sister, Mrs. Homer (Clela) Wilson of Table Grove; and three grandchildren, Scott and Todd Galloway of Pleasant Ridge, Mich., and Angela Cameron of Quincy.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Kenneth, Wayne, Russell, and Dale.

Active pallbearers were Burt Ringquist, James Smoot, Al Tervelt, Dale Long, Jay Shade, and Dr. William Alberts. Honorary pallbearers were: Dr. Leonard Rollins, Richard Baumgartner, Rick Baldwin, William Fessler, Myrl Shireman, Keith Smith, Robert Schlepphorst, Henry Hackmack, R. S. Brackman, Dr. Robert E. Meyer, Don McKinley, Tom Gott, Richard Heitholt, Robert Moore, and Robert DeVries.

Burial was in Quincy Memorial Park at Quincy. Funeral arrangements were by Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, 16th & State, Quincy.
