Well Known Astoria Man Dies Suddenly

John Wesley Trimmer died suddenly at his home in the northwest part of town Saturday afternoon at 12:30 o’clock, following a heart attack. His sudden and unexpected death was a shock to his family as well as the entire community.

Mr. Trimmer was born August 7, 1872 at Dillsburg, Pa., the son of Jesiah and Emma (Frederick) Trimmer. He was united in marriage to Ina May Shank May 16, 1896, in York Springs, Pa. To this union eight children were born, three sons dying in infancy.

Mr. Trimmer and family came to Illinois in 1902 from Pennsylvania, and located on a farm near Astoria. He was a farmer by occupation until nine years ago when he retired and moved to Astoria.

Mr. Trimmer united with the Pilot Grove United Brethren church near Adair 35 years ago. He was the only son of a family of 15 children.

Surviving are the widow, and the following children: Mrs. Irene Zeutzius, Iron Mountain, Mich., Mrs. Abbie Wright, Astoria, Mrs. Gladys Thomson, Altona, Mrs. Edna Trone, Macomb, Mrs. Margaret Tyler, Canton, together with 19 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; also nine sisters, all living in Pennsylvania.

Funeral services were held at the Shawgo Memorial Home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. H. Sheldon Pattison, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment in South Fulton cemetery.
