She was born March 29, 1934, in Yates City, the daughter of Herman and Florice Elliott Bowhay. She married Dale Savage on Sept. 16, 1950. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2008.
She also was preceded in death by three sons, Mike, Rick and Jack Savage; and one grandson, Eric Savage.
Surviving are three sons, Bob (and Nancy) Savage of Table Grove, Terry Savage of Kingman, Ind., and Kenny (and Staci) Savage of Longview, Texas; two daughters, Kathie Savage of Vermont and Crissy (and David) Ramos of Brownsville, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
With eight children, she stayed busy as a housewife. Evelyn, along with her husband Dale, moved to Brownsville, Texas, in 1981 where they managed Crooked Tree Campground for 24 years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Mike Ulmer officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. There will be a fish fry at the Table Grove Park after the service for anyone who would like to come eat and visit with family.
