Phillip SchislerPhillip Vern Schisler, 94, of Rushville died at 4:05 p.m. Sept. 11, 2022, at Rushville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Dec. 12, 1927, in Fulton County, a son of Evert and Opal Curless Schisler. He married Jeanette Bucher on Dec. 18, 1948, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Joyce Behymer of Pinckneyville, Carol (and Blaine) Kliffmiller of Rushville and Kathy Chase of Rushville; one sister, Susie (and Jim) Bucher; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Clair Schisler; and one sister, Clarice Schisler.

He went to the Army in 1945 where he earned the rank of PFC. He was sent overseas south of Pearl Harbor and was stationed in Japan and returned home in 1947. He worked at Camp Ellis as a farmhand and operated a bulldozer for four years. He then went to work for Jones Construction for over 25 years where he helped decommission Camp Ellis.

He was a lifelong farmer.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with his nephew, Pastor Robert Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Christian Neck Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
