He was born Sept. 28, 1959, in Aurora, a son of Michael and Norma Bowman Stell. He married Tonya Derry on Oct. 8, 1977, in Astoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother of Ripley; his children, Kizzie (and Norm) Gorsuch, Keesha (and Nathan Abernathy) Stell and Bocephus (and Madison Bucher) Stell, all of Astoria; one brother, Pat (and Patty) Bowman of Ripley; two sisters, Dottie (and Monte) Maxwell of Beardstown and Melanie (and Danny) Martin of Springfield; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Michael Bowman; and one sister, Pamela Pineta.
He worked for Freeman United Coal Company and later was a pipefitter and welder for the Local #125. He was a skilled fabricator.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at Astoria Christian Church where the family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. A dinner will be served at the church following the service. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
Cremation rites have been accorded per his wishes.
