Luther StolpLuther “Oley” Stolp, 78, of Brooklyn died at 6:10 p.m. Jan. 20, 2015, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born April 13, 1936, in Birmingham, the son of Lewis M. and Mable L. Hitz Stolp. He married Joan Clark on Dec. 2, 1955, in Hernando, Miss. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Tony Stolp of Brooklyn and Jim Stolp, Linda Herche and Jackie (and John) Goddard, all of Rushville; three sisters, Rachel (and Clyde) Jamison of Camden, Lucile Weaver of Macomb and Mary Mallard of Dallas City, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Lee “Fuzz” Stolp.

He worked for the Carpenter’s Local 1883 until the merge to Peoria in 1975. He worked on local construction projects such as Wesley Village, McDonough District Hospital and Western Illinois University. He then farmed until his retirement in 2009.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. Burial was in Blackburn Cemetery.
