He was born Feb. 8, 1937, in Astoria, a son of Dewey and Bunch Grissom Shaffer.
Surviving are nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Dewey "Rocky" Shaffer Jr.
He was a track layer for the railroad.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodland Cemetery in Astoria with Pastor Freddie Fritz officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
