Robert S. Shaffer, 66, of Astoria, died at 2:53 a.m. Sunday, March 11, 1990 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born May 3, 1923, in Astoria, a son of Dewey and Bunch Grissom Shaffer. He married Wilma Hopkins on March 30, 1972, in Astoria. She died on Feb. 2, 1983.
Surviving are two brothers, Dewey Jr. and Rodney, both of Astoria, and one niece and one nephew.
He was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church. He was retired from the Alexander Lumber Co. of Astoria.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodland Cemetery in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Astoria Rescue Squad.
