Betty J. Strong, 83, of Rushville died at 3:05 a.m. Oct. 10, 2012, at Superior Care Home in Paducah, Ky.Betty J. Strong, 83, of Rushville died at 3:05 a.m. Oct. 10, 2012, at Superior Care Home in Paducah, Ky.
She was born June 29, 1929, in Fulton County, a daughter of Wallace S. and Esther V. Green Leezer. She married Harold Strong Jr. on July 27, 1947, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1976.
She also was preceded in death by one grandson, Phillip Daniel Strong; two brothers, Rollin Leezer and Lewis Edward Leezer; and two sisters, Edna Hilst and Helen Wilcoxen.
Surviving are one son, Robert A. (and Carol) Strong of Raymond, Miss.; one daughter, Kathy (and Dr. Jesse) Wallace of Paducah, Ky.; one brother, Richard (and Carol) Leezer of Cuba; one sister, Ada Wilson of Canton; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She first worked at Rushville Junior High School Cafeteria. She later worked for 23 years at the JC Penney store in Rushville, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville and Red Hat Society.
Services were held Saturday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville with Reverend John Sowers officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
