She was born March 13, 1917, in Schuyler County, a daughter of John and Lillie Goodin Ebbert. She married Eldon H. Smith on July 3, 1936, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1982.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Curtis; two brothers, Paul Ebbert and Louis Ebbert; and three sisters, Joan Ebbert, Mary Hill and Lucille Curtis.
Surviving are three sons, Donald (and Sondra) Smith and Robert (and Beckie) Smith, both of Astoria and Dennis (and Judy) Smith of Frederick; one daughter, Linda Billingsley of Rushville; one brother, Victor (and Thelma) Ebbert of Havana; one sister, Doris Prather of Rushville; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She worked at the Maid-Rite in Rushville and Bartlow Brothers for many years, until retirement. After retirement, she took care of children in her home for several years.
Services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Kevin Owsley officiating. Burial was in Christian Neck Cemetery northeast of Rushville.
