Frances SengerFrances E. Senger, 99, of Astoria died at 9:45 a.m. Aug. 2, 2009, at Astoria Gardens and Rehab Center in Astoria.

She was born April 11, 1910, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Immel C. and Eva Merrill Johnson. She married Paul Senger on Oct. 13, 1940, in Astoria. He died Nov. 1, 1975.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Eura Stambaugh; and one brother, Ralph Johnson.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Frances Johnson of North Manchester, Ind.; and one niece and four nephews.

She was an elementary school teacher for 41 years. She taught 14 years at various country schools, nine years at Vermont Grade School and 18 years at Astoria Grade School.

She was a member of Astoria Church of the Brethren, ADK Sorority and Illinois Retired Teachers Association.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Kevin Owsley officiating. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the memorial home.

Memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church in Astoria or Astoria Gardens and Rehab Center.
