Robert SettlesRobert Settles, 75, of Rushville died at 10:55 p.m. Feb. 5, 2007, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mount Sterling.

He was born April 22, 1931, in Beardstown, a son of Paul H. and Hazelmae Carls Settles.

Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie (and Jack) Risley of Marissa and Beth Ann Settles of Rushville; two brothers, Tracy (and Anita) of Scottsboro, Ala., and Carl (and Peggy) of Rushville; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Patricia Farrar.

He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War.

He was a former member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Rushville.

He was a member of Marissa Masonic Lodge #881, AF and AM.

He worked as a master mechanic and supervisor at the Industry Strip Mine over 40 years, retiring in 1997.

Services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Rose Ross officiating. Military rites were conducted prior to the memorial service by the United States Navy Honor Guard and Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Inurnment will be in Rushville City Cemetery at a later date.
