ZELLA (McALISTER) SCHOAFF SILL

Zella Sill

Zella Sill, 95, of Peoria, formerly of Astoria, Bader and Glasford, died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 9, 1908, in Elmwood Township, Peoria County, a daughter of Clarence and Bertie McMeen McAlister. She married Clyde Schoaff on April 21, 1927, in Peoria. He died Nov. 25, 1979, in Topeka.

She later married Charles Sill in Mapleton. He preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Schoaff; one stepdaughter, Bette Deppermann; one sister; and one brother.

Surviving are one daughter, Elva Harper of Peoria; one son, Paul (and Eileen) Schoaff of Gainesville, Fla.; one stepson, Bruce Sill of Bonita Springs, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Eleanor Zessin of Farmington, Edith (and Jim) Richard of Peoria and Dorothy Isbell of Hanna City.

A barber, she owned and operated the Busy Bee in Glasford for two years. She later was self-employed in home nursing for more than 10 years and also was an Amway dealer.

She was a member of the Homemakers Extension in Bartonville.

She was a member of Bartonville Christian Church, where services were held Monday with Revs. Jack Thompson and Kevin Dell officiating. Burial was in Bader Cemetery in Bader. Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
