Samuel E. Seward, 84, of Quincy, formerly of Astoria, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

He was born May 1, 1917, in Astoria, a son of Mose and Carrie E. Etter Seward.

Surviving are one brother, Marshall of Havana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Earl; and one sister, Mildred Derry.

He was a World War II veteran.

He worked at Bader Motor Co. in Astoria.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the South Fulton Cemetery with Rev. James Shirley officiating and military rites provided by Astoria American Legion Post 25. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Shawgo Memorial Home.

Memorials may be made to the Astoria Township Cemetery Assn.
