Max D. Stambaugh, 53, of Summum died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, on Sawmill Mountain near Meeker, Colo.
He was born March 18, 1948, in Beardstown, a son of Wayne D. and Opal M. Hopping Stambaugh. He married Annie Lewis on Dec. 23, 1972, in Summum. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Rachel Stambaugh at home; his mother of Summum; and one sister, Rosemary (and Larry) Mason of Summum.
He was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
He worked at International Harvester, which became Navistar, for 30 years.
He was a member of Summum Christian Church.
Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Tim Worstell officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a college fund for Rachel Stambaugh in care of Farmers State Bank, Astoria or his church youth fund.
