Junior Smith

Junior E. “Jake” Smith, 75, of Macomb, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Heartland Healthcare Center.

He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Fulton County, a son of Elzie and Cleva Hamm Smith. He married Nelda Miller on Dec. 9, 1944, in Taunton, Mass. She survives.

Also surviving are two sisters, Rosa Fitzjerrells of Upland, Calif., and Elsie Clapp of Table Grove, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He worked for a railroad after the war until 1950. He then farmed in the rural Macomb area, retiring in 1986.

Services were today at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Green officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery near Table Grove.

Memorials may be made to the McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program or to any charity.
