John Skiles

John W. Skiles, 89, of Industry, died at 11:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Aug. 10, 1908, in Browning Township, Schuyler County, a son of James A. and Rosa Ann Stambaugh Skiles. He married Irma Ellen Schisler on Feb. 28, 1929, in Rushville. She died May 7, 1995. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, four brothers and three grandchildren.

Surviving are three sons, Wesley Skiles of Roseville, Hubert Skiles of Crestview, Fla., and Bernard Skiles of Lewistown; three daughters, Lorraine Pointer of Macomb, Maralyn McSperritt of Adair, and Karen Brobston of Gerlaw; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Rev. Donald Skiles of Colchester.

He was a farmer until 1958, then worked for the Colchester Brick and Tile Company and later worked for the Industry and Littleton elevators. He was a member of the Macomb Assembly of God Church and attended the Industry Assembly of God Church.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Stephen Storms and Tom Brobston officiating. Burial was in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Roseville.
