Sammie R. Sipes, 68, of Beardstown, died Friday morning, Jan. 19, 1996, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born April 26, 1927, in Cassville, Mo., a son of Clifford A. and Mabel Pennington Sipes. He married Rosella M. Savage Sept. 12, 1959, in Beardstown. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Jeff and Anita Sipes of Indianapolis, Ind., Ronald Sipes, Clifford Sipes and Arthur Sipes, all of Jacksonville; one brother, Floyd Sipes of Duluth, Minn.; three sisters, Florence Kelly of Charleston, Francellia Sweeney of Milan and Mary Heflin of Vermont; and one granddaughter, Molly Marie Sipes of Indianapolis, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, John, Elbert, Vernon, Kenneth and Gerald and one sister, Ethel Busby.
He was formerly employed by Robertson Block Company, Littleton Vault Company, Kent Feeds and Super Wash in Beardstown.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with Irene DeSollar officiating. Burial was in the Christian Neck Cemetery near Rushville.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Jacksonville Development Center or Jacksonville Area of Retarded Children.
