HARRY BYRON “BARNEY” STAUFFER

H. Byron “Barney” Stauffer, 88, of Carlinville, died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 1995, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 11, 1907, in Schuyler County, a son of Harry Seth and Lanta C. (Jones) Stauffer. He married Dorothy (Venters) Stauffer on May 9, 1928, in Ashland. She preceded him in death on Sept. 27, 1984. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Lynn Stauffer in 1975, one brother, Hugh Stauffer, and one sister, Gwendolyn Ray.

He is survived by two sons, Robert E. Stauffer of Rushville and Jim E. Stauffer of Boles, Ark.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and one niece, Jo Ann Cooper of Astoria.

In his early years, Mr. Stauffer worked at the Schuyler Service Co., as a petroleum salesman for 18 years. He then moved to Carlinville in 1948 as an Assistant Manager for Macoupin Co. Service Co. He later joined MJM Electric Co., from which he retired. After retirement he worked at Staytons Color Spot making picture frames. He was a member of the Memorial Christian Church in Carlinville, the Carlinville Lions Club where he served as past president 1972-73.

Funeral services were held Sunday at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville with Rev. Martin Miller officiating. Burial was in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
