Preston Snowden Of Vermont Dies

Preston E. Snowden, 30, of Vermont, died Wednesday night, Feb. 14, 1990, at a residence at 613 N. Main St. in Vermont, the victim of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, authorities said.

Vermont police said they were called to the scene at 9:55 p.m. Snowden was pronounced dead at 10:40 p.m. by Fulton County chief deputy coroner, Bob Shelton. Snowden had been shot with a small-caliber handgun, police said.

The shooting is under investigation by Vermont police, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Dept., state police and the coroner’s office.

Snowden, a semi-truck driver for Meadow Lake Co., was born July 7, 1959, a son of Edmund w. and Leona M. (Stroops) Snowden. He married Karen Teel. Later he married Beth Groff.

Surviving are a daughter, Amber M. Snowden of Industry; three sons, Jesse F. Snowden of Lewistown, Lucas A. and Matthew C. Snowden, both of Moberly; a sister, Clarice N. Snowden of Macomb; a brother, Gordon M. Snowden of Vermont; and his grandmother, Nellie R. Snowden of Vermont.

Mr. Snowden was a member of the Vermont Christian Church.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services for Mr. Snowden were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Vermont Cemetery with Rev. Tim Gilliland officiating. Kost Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements.
