Hobart Scrogum Dies In Arizona

Hobart J. Scrogum, 63, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Astoria, a minister in the Christian Church for 30 years, died at 4 p.m. Monday, April 3, 1989, at the John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix.

A 1956 graduate of Lincoln Christian College, he pastored churches in Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky and Arizona. He retired in 1987 due to ill health.

Born Oct. 8, 1925, in Astoria to Hobart and Irma Parr Scrogum, he married Margaret Schisler Nov. 18, 1945, in Astoria.

She survives, along with one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Saundra) Smith of Quincy; one son, Charles of Phoenix; two grandchildren; and one brother, Marshall Devere Scrogum of Astoria. His parents preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Summum Christian Church with Jim Poll officiating. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria.

Memorials may be made to the Summum Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
