“Kay” Shughart Of Canton Dies

Cathyerene “Kay” Shughart, 72, of Canton, died Friday, Dec. 26, 1986, at 10:16 a.m. at the Nursing Center of Canton.

She was born Oct. 10, 1914 in Camden, a daughter of Curry and Anna McKeown Lawson. She married Fred P. Shughart April 20, 1936. He died Jan. 11, 1985.

Surviving are two daughters, Annette Sullivan of Macomb and Mrs. William (Lynette) Hickle of Astoria; one brother, Vincent Lawson of Old Town, Fla.; two sisters, Minnie Stice of Arlington, Va., and Caroline Blankenship of Fort Scott, Kan.; and four grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Delbert Lawson.

She spent most of her life in McDonough County. She was a beauty operator for many years and also worked at Montgomery Wards. She was a member of the Macomb Women’s Bowling Association and an avid bowler.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Ron Derrig-Green officiating.
