L. Emmet Snowden Dies At His Home

L. Emmet Snowden, 79, of Astoria, died at 2:43 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1983, at his home.

He was born Sept. 15, 1904, in McDonough County, the son of Louis R. and Mary L. (Foster) Snowden. He married Helen D. Derry Feb. 29, 1924, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Lloyd E. Snowden of Canton, and James L. Snowden of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. William (Doris) Connolly of Astoria and Mrs. Gerald (Lois) Meehan of Agoura, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Conrad of Canton and Mrs. Edith Walton of Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

He retired as a section foreman after 47 years with Burlington-Northern Railroad.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Bruce W. Bolin Ghitalia officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
