Emery Smith, 74, of Vermont died at his home at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Apr. 30, 1980.
Born in Astoria May 18, 1905, he was a son of Jonathan and Cora Bair Smith. He married Teresa Amrine Oct. 16, 1974, in Vermont.
He was retired from International Harvester in Canton where he had worked 38 years. He was a member of Vermont Christian Church and IOOF Vermont Lodge 79.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Monte Welker of Utica, N.Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Sharon Hambright of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Edgar Smith of Vermont and Homer Smith of Evansville, Ind.; and a sister, Mrs. Maude Sexton of Dunfermline.
Two brothers preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to the church or IOOF Lodge.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Vermont Christian Church with Rev. Dan Roberts officiating. Burial was in the Vermont Cemetery.
