Teresa Ann Smith, 92, of Bethalto, formerly of Vermont, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at 9:55 a.m. at Villa Rose Retirement Center in Bethalto.
She was born March 4, 1908, in Vermont, a daughter of Charles and Clara Rankin Amrine. She married Emery E. Smith on Oct. 16, 1954, in Vermont. He died April 30, 1980.
She was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Nancy Welker; one granddaughter, Cynthia Welker; one stepbrother, Edgar Amrine; and one sister, Lucille Smith.
Surviving are one son, Monte Eugene Welker of Godfrey; and one granddaughter.
She worked as a grocery store clerk.
She was a life member of Vermont Christian Church, a 50-year member of Harmony Rebekah Lodge #53, Order of Eastern Star, Modern Woodman and Vermont American Legion Auxiliary.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at her church with Tim Gilliland officiating. Visitation will be held Friday at Kost Memorial Home from 4-6 p.m. with a Rebekah Lodge service at 6 p.m. Burial will be at Vermont Cemetery.
