VeteranLeRoy Shirrell Of Macomb Dies

LeRoy C. Shirrell, 73, of Macomb died Mar. 6, 1980, in McDonough District Hospital after an illness of four months.

He was born Sept. 8, 1906, in Bluff City, a son of William D. and Helena (Holmes) Shirrell. He married Eleanor Barrett June 28, 1947, in Monmouth.

She survives, along with his mother of Bluff City; three daughters, Mrs. Dean (Sandy) Chipman of Ipava, Mrs. Marvin (Shirley) Metcalf of Macomb and Mrs. Joe (Karee) Stewart of Burlington, Iowa; two stepsons, Larry Parks of Bensonville and Richard Parks of Macomb; three grandchildren and one step-granddaughter.

Also surviving are three brothers, Eldo of Peoria, Herschel of Bluff City and Carmen of Macomb and two sisters, Mrs. Margie Kling of Macomb and Mrs. Don (Mildred) Buschbom of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister who died in infancy.

Mr. Shirrell had lived in Macomb for 30 years and had been a custodian at McGraw Edison Porcelain Co. before retiring in 1971. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Funeral services were Mar. 8 in the Clugston Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Rex Cain officiating. Burial was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery at Colchester.
