VeteranRay H. Schisler Dies At Age 84

Ray Henry Schisler, 84, a lifetime resident of the Astoria area, died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 1977, at the Astoria Care Center.

He was born Dec. 16, 1892, at Astoria, a son of Samuel and Lydia Ebbert Schisler. He was united in marriage on July 7, 1923, to Emma Derry, who preceded him in death on June 28, 1950.

Surviving are three sons, Floyd of Astoria, Lloyd of Rushville and Raymond of Lewistown; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Bessie Long of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by an infant child, five sisters, four brothers and one grandson. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Astoria Assembly of God Church.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Earl Stambaugh officiating. Burial was in the South Fulton Cemetery.
