Carl E. Severns Dies At Age 57Carl E. Severns Dies At Age 57Carl E. Severns, 57, of Astoria died early Saturday morning at the Culbertson Hospital in Rushville.
Mr. Severns, a lifetime resident of Astoria, was born there Nov. 13, 1912, the son of Clarence E. and Dolla V. Diamond Severns. He married Carolyn Briney June 19, 1935, at Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Eula Saville of Peoria, and a brother, Holland J. Severns of Astoria.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Jill.
He was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church, United Mine Workers of America, Post 25 of the American Legion, and the Astoria Saddle Club. He was a veteran of World War II.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Astoria United Methodist Church with Rev. Fines Main officiating. Burial was in Sheldons Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Walter Webb served as organist with vocal music by the church choir.
