Mrs. Mabel Smith of Summum Dies at 84

Mrs. Mabel Smith, 84, a lifetime Summum area resident, died about 5:45 Thursday morning in a Peoria hospital. She had been a patient there nine months. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday in the Summum Christian Church. The Rev. David Flood officiated and burial was in Summum Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born March 23, 1879 at Summum, the daughter of Milton and Rachael Smith Carter. She married Willard C. Smith who died in 1953.

Surviving are five children, Mrs. Lela Larsen, North Pekin, Donald Smith of East Peoria, Kenneth Smith of Summum, Mrs. Nellie Dunne of Peoria and Mrs. Lenabel Duff of East St. Louis; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Mummert of Canton and Mrs. Mildred McMullen of East Moline.

Three sisters and two brothers are deceased.
