Shirley Rittenhouse

Shirley RittenhouseShirley Jean Rittenhouse, 87, of Rushville died at 2:30 a.m. March 25, 2014, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born July 27, 1926, in Rushville, a daughter of William J. and Ada E. Rockwell Jones. She married Dexter Lee Rittenhouse on Feb. 19, 1949, in Danville. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Tom (and Debbie) Rittenhouse of Weldon.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynette Rittenhouse; one brother, William R. Jones; and one sister, Irma Ray.

She graduated from Graham Hospital School of Nursing in Canton in 1948. She was a nurse for 30 years working at Sarah D. Culbertson Hospital and in the office of Dr. Russell R. Dohner MD.

She was a member of Rushville First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

She volunteered at Rushville HELP Center.

Services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. John Sowers officiating. Inurnment was in Rushville City Cemetery.
