William "Bob" Robert Roddis, 84, of rural Lewistown died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at his home.

He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Ipava, a son of Harry and Irma Ashton Roddis. He married Leona M. Pollitt on April 6, 1947, in Ipava. She died Sept. 20, 1996.

Surviving are one son, Bill (and Nancy) of Lewistown; one daughter, Phyllis (and Robert) Fleming of Ipava; one brother, Phil (and Evelyn) of Ipava; and three grandchildren.

A World War II Army veteran, he served from 1942 to 1946 in the Pacific Theater and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was a member of Ipava American Legion Post 17 for more than 50 years.

He and his wife owned and operated Roddis Grocery Store in Ipava for many years. He also farmed in the Lewistown area for many years before retiring.

He was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau.

He was of the Christian faith.

Services were held Saturday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton with Rev. Michael Barr officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown, where military rites were conducted by his American Legion post.

Memorials may be made to his American Legion post or to Spoon River Hospice at Graham Hospital in Canton.
